GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team delivered a strong performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating Oglethorpe University 5–2 at home. With the win, the Pirates improve to 13–3 overall and 3–1 in SAA play, currently sitting third in the conference standings.
Southwestern set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Joseph Snyman and Christo Langford dominated Kellen Simmons and Figge Pernfors with a 6–2 victory. The No. 2 pair of Parth Patel and Bernie Clemente followed with a 6–2 win over Zack Raymond and Jefferson Page. Rounding out doubles play, Ashton Ellis and Landon Sosebee battled to a 7–5 win at No. 3 against Callum Searle and Marton Szabo to complete the sweep.
In singles action, the Pirates claimed four of six matches to seal the team victory. At No. 2 singles, Porter Arens controlled his match from start to finish, earning a 6–4, 6–2 win over Bailey Raymond. Ashton Ellis continued his strong day with a commanding 6–1, 6–1 victory at No. 3 over Figge Pernfors. Parth Patel added another point at No. 4 singles, defeating Marton Szabo 6–1, 6–2. At No. 5, Rylan Hastings secured a decisive 6–1, 6–2 win against Noah George.
Oglethorpe picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles. Bernie Clemente fell at the top spot 3–6, 0–6 to Kellen Simmons, while Sebastian Herrera dropped a tightly contested three-set match at No. 6, 2–6, 6–4, 8–10 against Zack Raymond.
