GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team delivered a strong all-around performance on Saturday, April 11, defeating Millsaps College 5-2 in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Pirates set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Christo Langford and Joseph Snyman led the way with a commanding 6-2 victory over Sam Tuli and Jon Nguyen. Bernie Clemente and Parth Patel followed suit at No. 2 doubles, also earning a 6-2 win against Bradley Schiaffino and Anderson Causey. Rounding out the sweep, Landon Sosebee and Ashton Ellis picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles over Cooper Payne and Brennan Pierce.
Holding a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play, Southwestern continued to build momentum with four singles victories. At No. 3 singles, Ashton Ellis earned a straight-sets win, defeating Jon Nguyen 6-0, 7-6 (7-5). Parth Patel was dominant at No. 4 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bradley Schiaffino. Hai Vo added another point at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Cooper Payne, while Sebastian Herrera sealed the team victory at No. 6 singles with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 performance over Brennan Pierce.
Millsaps picked up its two points at the top of the singles lineup. At No. 1 singles, Anderson Causey defeated Bernie Clemente 6-4, 7-5. No. 2 singles featured a tightly contested three-set match, where Sam Tuli edged Porter Arens in a match tiebreak, 6-0, 1-6, 11-9.
