ATLANTA, GEORGIA - Southwestern University Women's Lacrosse were defeated on Friday afternoon at Oglethorpe University, 19-4. The loss officially eliminates the Pirates from the SAA tournament as the Petrels clinched the final spot in the tournament.
Despite the loss, sophomore
Hannah Colvin excelled between the pipes once again. Colvin reset her own single-game school saves record which was previously 19. The sophomore finished with 21 saves on Friday, totaling 173 on the season, along with averaging 13.30 saves per game which currently ranks second in the nation.
The Petrels scored the first three goals of the game before junior
Sydney Martin took advantage of the man-up opportunity with a goal. However, Oglethorpe poured on four goals in the final two minutes of the first quarter to lead 7-1.
Senior
Elaina Seeley opened the second quarter with a goal for her 11th of the season. The Pirates trailed 11-2 at halftime, while Colvin totaled 17 saves in one half. Southwestern struggled on clears at 4 for 14 in the half.
Martin scored her second to start the third for her 25th of the season. The junior continues to improve surpassing her 2025 total of 19. The final Pirate goal scorer was senior
Kati Rzasnicki on the assist from senior
Katie Pratt. However, the squad struggled to slow down a high-powered Petrel offense in defeat. Freshman
Peyton Shindler totaled four ground balls, while Seeley lead the team with three draw controls.
