Pirates Edge Rhodes 4–3 to Clinch SAA Tournament Berth

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team secured a crucial 4–3 victory over Rhodes College, clinching a spot in the SAA Tournament and improving to 5–1 in conference play.

The Pirates opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of three courts. At No. 1 doubles, Christo Langford and Joseph Snyman delivered a strong 6–3 victory. Landon Sosebee and Ashton Ellis followed with a dominant 6–1 win at No. 3 doubles to seal the point for Southwestern. Rhodes claimed the No. 2 doubles match, 7–5, but the Pirates carried a 1–0 lead into singles play.

In singles action, Southwestern battled through a tightly contested lineup to secure the match. Ashton Ellis earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 3 singles, outlasting his opponent in a back-and-forth contest, 6–4, 6–7, 7–5. Parth Patel added a key straight-set win at No. 4 singles, 6–1, 6–2, while Nolan Alvarez sealed the team victory with a commanding 6–0, 6–2 performance at No. 6 singles.

Rhodes picked up wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles, but the Pirates' three singles victories, combined with the doubles point, proved to be the difference in the narrow 4–3 decision.

With the win, Southwestern locks in its place in the SAA Tournament and continues to build momentum late in the season.
