WLAX Falls Short In Overtime Against Concordia Wisconsin, 10-9

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Women's Lacrosse fell in overtime against Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday night at home, 10-9. The Pirates drop to 1-3 on the season. 

The Pirates played an absolute dominate first half, finding themselves up 8-2 with all the momentum as the Pirates were clicking on all cylinders and frustrating the Falcons with nine first half saves. However, the Falcons roared back seven unanswered goals. Freshman Peyton Shindler had a career night, scoring with one minute to play to send us to overtime before the Falcons scored the golden goal to clinch the win. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Southwestern hosted the Falcons who previously lost to Wentworth on Thursday in overtime. 
  • Shindler earned a breakout performance tonight, starting with the opening goal. 
  • Freshman Nia Trevillion was also efficient, scoring the second goal of the game. 
  • Sophomore Hannah Colvin was dominant with nine first half saves, continuing her early season success. 
  • Shindler netted a hat-trick as the Pirates built a 7-2 lead. 
  • Junior Sydney Martin scored three goals on the night as the lead was 8-2 with 13 miniutes left in the third quarter. 
  • The Falcons found momentum, scoring seven straight goals, leading by one with four minutes to play. 
  • Southwestern didn't hang their heads as Shindler scored on another incredible indiviudual effort to send us to overtime. 
  • Concordia eventually won the game scoring four minutes into the overtime period. 
GAME NOTES
  • Multiple Pirates earned career nights. Colvin snatched 14 saves for another career-high as she continues to rewrite her own personal bests. 
  • The sophomore goalie was responsible for eight goals allowed as she finished with a save percentage of .636. Colvin's season save percentage is an impressive .532. 
  • Shindler not only had a team-leading four goals, but also picked up eight ground balls as the freshman was everywhere. 
  • Senior Elaina Seeley also had a career-high tonight with nine ground balls. 
  • Senior Kati Rzasnicki and Trevillion each caused three turnovers.
