Pirates Cruise Past Centre College, 6-1, in SAA Match

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team picked up a commanding 6-1 win over Centre College on Sunday, improving to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in SAA conference play. 

The Pirates swept the doubles point with decisive victories in all three matches. At No. 1, Joseph Snyman and Christo Langford defeated Ty Bush and Dylan Dethridge, 6-1, while Parth Patel and Bernie Clemente topped Jack Gessner and Ben Rueff, 6-0, in the No. 2 spot. Ashton Ellis and Landon Sosebee completed the sweep with a 6-0 win over Isaac Flanery and Chase Turley at No. 3 doubles.

Southwestern carried the momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Bernie Clemente led the way at No. 1 singles with a four-set victory over Ty Bush, 6-3, 7-6, 7-6, 0-0. Porter Arens earned a straight-set win at No. 2 against Dylan Dethridge, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, while Ashton Ellis battled back from a first-set loss to defeat Ben Rueff, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 3. At No. 4, Isaac Flanery claimed a four-set win over Parth Patel, 7-6, 7-4, 3-6, 1-0, while Hai Vo secured the match at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Tejas Ahuja. Rylan Hastings rounded out the Pirates' singles success with a three-set win over Chase Turley, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
