GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Baseball hosted Berry College on Friday night for the second weekend of SAA play as the Vikings took the victory in seven innings, 11-0. The Pirates fall to 1-3 in conference play.
Both squads came into play on Friday with 1-2 conference records, looking to gain momentum in the standings. Sophomore
Darion Rogers received the start looking for a third straight quality start. Rogers tossed 15 combined innings with only two earned runs in his past two starts.
After four innings, Rogers looked sharp with only one earned run surrendered, but the Vikings led 2-0 after a crucial Pirate error. The sophomore's night ended in the fifth inning, credited with four earned runs as the Vikings took a 6-0 lead.
Berry scored five runs in the top of sixth which eventually clinched a run-rule effect in seven innings as the Pirates dropped game one of the SAA series. The Pirates could not crack the Vikings starting pitcher with two hits on the night.
