GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – The Southwestern University softball team dropped the series finale to No. 5 Berry College on Sunday afternoon, falling 8–1 at Taylor-Sanders Field.Despite the loss, Southwestern claimed the series 2–1 over the nationally ranked Vikings, finishing the weekend with a strong showing in conference play.

The final game of the series saw the No. 5 Vikings pull away early, but the Pirates put together a late rally to avoid the shutout.
Berry struck first with a four-run first inning, fueled by RBI plays from Kennedy Moody, Erica Bennett, and Brooke Thompson. The Vikings added another run in the second on an RBI single from Lauren Cothern, taking a 5–0 lead.
Southwestern finally got on the board in the sixth inning as Izabella Hernandez singled to left-center, driving in Emery Bell for the Pirates' lone run. Berry responded with two more runs in the seventh on RBI singles from Rachel Runsick and Brooke Thompson to secure the 8–1 win.
