GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's tennis team closed out its spring break trip in dominant fashion on March 19, sweeping George Fox University in Orlando, Florida. With the victory, the Pirates conclude non-conference play with a 6–5 overall record and carry strong momentum into conference competition.
Southwestern secured the doubles point with wins on two of the three courts. At No. 2 doubles, Lilly Perkins and Katia Childs earned a convincing 6–2 victory over Juhree Kizziar and Sophie Denham. The No. 3 pairing of Addison Powell and Kimberly Duncan delivered the most decisive result of doubles play, blanking Audrey Gardner and Nicole Schnurbusch 6–0. George Fox claimed the No. 1 spot, where Daryl Locke and Isa Cepeda fell 6–2 to Riley Bobkiewicz and Shanah Denham.
The Pirates took complete control in singles action, sweeping all six courts in straight sets. At the top spot, Isa Cepeda led the way with a 6–3, 6–1 win over Bobkiewicz. Daryl Locke followed at No. 2 singles with a 6–4, 6–4 victory against Shanah Denham.
Kimberly Duncan continued her strong play at No. 3 singles, cruising to a 6–0, 6–1 win over Sophie Denham. Lilly Perkins added another point at No. 4 with a 6–3, 6–2 decision against Kizziar. At No. 5, Katia Childs was dominant in a 6–1, 6–0 victory over Gardner, while Addison Powell capped off the sweep at No. 6 with a 6–4, 6–1 win against Schnurbusch.
