GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University softball team delivered a marquee performance on Saturday, knocking off No. 5 Berry College in a doubleheader sweep at Taylor-Sanders Field. The Pirates dominated game one in a 16–6 five-inning run-rule victory before holding on for a 4–3 win in game two to secure the series.
GAME 1 – Southwestern 16, Berry 6 (5 inn.)
Southwestern's offense erupted from the start, producing 16 runs on 16 hits in a dominant opener.
The Pirates got on the board in the first inning as Daniella Clark drove in Calle Collier with a single to left center. Southwestern added three more in the second, highlighted by RBI knocks from Allie Fields and Collier to build a 4–0 advantage.
Berry answered with three runs in the third, but the Pirates responded with a decisive nine-run inning. Macey Gilman worked a bases-loaded walk before Aryana Dunkelberger, Fields, and Collier each delivered RBI hits. Tauryn Alexander added a two-run double, and Sophia Ytuarte capped the inning with an RBI single as Southwestern surged ahead 13–3.
Berry plated three in the fourth, but the Pirates answered once again. Mattie Wilkie lifted a sacrifice fly before Clark delivered a two-run single to extend the lead to 16–6, clinching the run-rule victory.

The second game proved to be a tightly contested battle, with timely hitting lifting the Pirates to the sweep.
Macey Gilman put Southwestern on the board in the second inning with a solo home run to left. The Pirates added another run in the fifth as Collier doubled down the left field line to score Aryana Dunkelberger and make it 2–0.
Berry responded in the sixth, capitalizing on an error and a sacrifice fly to even the score at 2–2. In the bottom half, Gilman delivered once again, launching a two-run home run—her second of the game—to give Southwestern a 4–2 lead.
Berry threatened in the seventh with an RBI double, but Jaden Wheeler closed the door to secure the 4–3 victory.
