GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The No. 36 nationally ranked Southwestern University men's tennis team battled its way to a thrilling 4–3 victory over Vassar College on Tuesday, securing a hard-fought win during its spring break trip in Florida.
The Pirates opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. At No. 1 doubles, Joseph Snyman and Christo Langford delivered a strong 6–3 victory, while Bernie Clemente and Parth Patel followed with a 6–4 win at No. 2. Vassar picked up the final doubles match at No. 3, defeating Ashton Ellis and Landon Sosebee 6–2, but Southwestern's early advantage proved crucial.
In singles play, the Brewers responded by taking the top three courts to pull ahead 3–1. At No. 1, Bernie Clemente dropped a tight three-set battle, 6–4, 2–6, 4–10. Porter Arens also pushed his match to three sets at No. 2 but fell 5–7, 7–5, 5–10. At No. 3, Ashton Ellis was edged in straight sets, 3–6, 6–7.
The Pirates answered from the bottom of the lineup to complete the comeback. Parth Patel earned a decisive 6–3, 6–2 win at No. 4 to shift momentum back in Southwestern's favor. Nolan Alvarez followed with a clutch comeback at No. 5, winning 4–6, 6–2, 10–5. With the match on the line, Arian Patel delivered the clincher at No. 6, grinding out a 6–4, 4–6, 10–7 victory to secure the 4–3 win.
