GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon at Henderson Courts, sweeping the University of the Ozarks 7–0. With the victory, the Pirates improve to 5–4 overall on the season.
Southwestern opened the match by claiming the doubles point with a clean sweep of all three courts.
At No. 1 doubles, Isa Cepeda and Daryl Locke set the tone with a commanding 6–0 victory over Kelsey Smith and Brooke Humphrey. The Pirates followed with another strong showing at No. 2, where Lilly Perkins and Katia Childs defeated Madison Hamilton and Erika Jones 6–2.
The momentum continued at the No. 3 position as Addison Powell and Kimberly Duncan completed the sweep with a decisive 6–0 win against Jayden Vazquez and Samantha Naramore.
Southwestern carried that momentum into singles play, winning every match in straight sets to secure the shutout.
At the top spot, Isa Cepeda defeated Kelsey Smith 6–1, 6–1, while Daryl Locke dominated at No. 2 singles with a 6–0, 6–0 victory over Brooke Humphrey. Kimberly Duncan followed with another flawless performance at the No. 3 position, blanking Madison Hamilton 6–0, 6–0.
At No. 4 singles, Lilly Perkins continued the Pirates' strong run with a 6–0, 6–0 win against Erika Jones. Addison Powell added another point at No. 5 singles, defeating Jayden Vazquez 6–2, 6–0.
Rounding out the sweep at the No. 6 position, Katia Childs secured a 6–0, 6–0 victory over Yamileth Lopez to cap the Pirates' dominant afternoon.
