BSB Fails To Sweep Muhlenberg On Saturday In Slugfest, 12-10

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Baseball lost a seesaw series finale against Muhlenberg College on Saturday, failing to complete the three-game sweep, 12-10. 22 combined runs were scored in the seven-inning game which was decided upon prior to the game as the Pirates drop to 4-12 overall. 

Freshman Samuel Garcia started his first game on the bump of his career after a minor injury to start the year, Garcia threw a clean two innings with zero runs and zero hits as the freshman was on a pitch limit to start his career. Freshman Alex Ervesun slapped a single into right with two runners in scoring position as the Pirates led 2-0 after two innings. 

The Mules quickly turned the game around completely, scoring nine unanswered runs to lead 9-2. Junior Owen Stevenson swatted another homerun for his second straight game before senior Ben Feuer stayed hot with an RBI single to pull within four runs after four inning. The Mules punched back with two runs in the top half of the fifth.

Feuer took another pitch to right for an RBI single in the sixth. In the seventh, Stevenson went deep again as the Pirates bench erupted. However, Southwestern came up short in seven innings. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS 
  • The lone pitching highlights were Garcia's dominant two innings and senior Tres Organ's three innings of relief with only one earned run. 
  • Stevenson finished the week with nine hits, eight RBI's, three homeruns, and six runs. 
  • Feuer went 2-3 with two RBI's and a walk. 
UP NEXT
Southwestern battles The College of Wooster next Tuesday at 3 p.m. before kicking off SAA play next weekend.
