GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University men's tennis hosted No. 15 ranked Washington University on Henderson Courts Friday afternoon, falling 5–2 while securing a pair of singles victories against the nationally ranked Bears.
Washington University claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Colin Fox and Jeremy Sieben defeated Joseph Snyman and Christo Langford, 6–3, while Drew Koval and Nathan Tam earned a 6–3 victory over Landon Sosebee and Ashton Ellis at No. 2. The Pirates picked up a win at No. 3 doubles as Bernie Clemente and Sebastian Herrera battled to a 6–4 victory over Danny Radke and Spencer Yamamoto.
In singles play, Washington took four of the six courts to secure the match. At No. 1 singles, Colin Scruggs defeated Clemente in straight sets, 6–4, 6–2. Jeremy Sieben followed with a 6–1, 6–2 win over Porter Arens at No. 2. At No. 3 singles, Case Fagan outlasted Ellis in a three-set contest, 6–1, 6–7, 6–1. Avi Mahajan added another point for the Bears at No. 4 with a 7–5, 6–2 win over Nolan Alvarez.
The Pirates earned their two points late in the lineup. At No. 5 singles, Arian Patel rallied after dropping the opening set to defeat Colin Fox, 2–6, 7–5, 6–4. Hai Vo followed with a strong performance at No. 6 singles, topping Coleman Merce in straight sets, 6–1, 7–5.
