BSB Surrenders Nine Early Runs, Falling At Concordia, 12-7

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Baseball jumped out to three runs in the first, but surrendered nine unanswered to fall on the road against Concordia University, 12-7. The Pirates fall to 0-4 after losing to a Concordia team who received national ranking votes. 

Senior Tres Organ smashed an RBI single to fire up the Pirates in the first inning. Freshman Connor Daley smoked a double to bring in Organ as the Pirates offense was alive, leading 3-0. However, four early errors and timely Concordia hits led to the Pirates facing a 9-3 deficit after four innings. 

The Pirate offense found their stride tonight as senior Lucas Marlowe, Organ, and Daley helped post seven on the night with RBI's. Southwestern pitching and defense was the difference tonight, allowing 12 runs on only seven earned with six wild pitches. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Pirates offense made adjustments tonight with a season-high 14 hits with four extra-base hits. 
  • Freshman Alex Ervesun and Connor Daley led the team with three hits a piece. Daley was dangerous with two doubles on the night and three RBI's. 
  • Seniors Connor Duffey and Ben Feuer also looked comfortable in the box with consistent barrels with two hits a piece.

Southwestern travels Howard Payne University this weekend for one game on Friday night at 6 p.m., along with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
