GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Thursday night, sweeping University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 7-0 in Belton, Texas. The Pirates claimed all three doubles matches before rolling through singles play to secure the shutout victory.
Southwestern set the tone early in doubles action. At No. 1, Joseph Snyman and Porter Arens earned a 6-4 win over Arturo Langle and Davi Savi. The No. 2 pair of Parth Patel and Bernie Clemente matched that score with a 6-4 victory against Kell Castleberry and Vince Rivas. Christo Langford and Ashton Ellis completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles with a commanding 6-0 win over Alec Rule and Edgar Mayorga Calva.
Carrying the momentum into singles, the Pirates controlled every court. At No. 1, Nathan Qi posted a 6-0, 6-4 win over Davi Savi. Ashton Ellis battled back at No. 2 singles after dropping the first set, defeating Arturo Langle 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Porter Arens was dominant at No. 3, blanking Edgar Mayorga Calva 6-0, 6-0.
Parth Patel secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles over Marcus Torres, while Bernie Clemente followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 against Alec Rule. Christo Langford closed out the sweep at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 7-5 decision over Vince Rivas.
With the victory, the Pirates showcased depth and consistency across the lineup, finishing the night without dropping a match.
