GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University women's basketball team earned its second victory of the season over Sewanee on Sunday afternoon, pulling away for a 71–54 win to improve to 12-8 overall and 3-6 in Southern Athletic Association play.
The Pirates set the tone early, opening the contest with a strong first quarter to build a 23–10 advantage. Southwestern followed with a steady second frame, heading into halftime with a 38–27 lead. After Sewanee trimmed the margin in the third, the Pirates responded with a decisive fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 20–15 to secure the conference win. The Pirates controlled the game throughout, never relinquishing the lead, and showcased depth and defensive pressure to close out the season sweep of Sewanee.

Junior Trinity Benitez led all scorers with a dominant performance, pouring in 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting while adding a team-high 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Benitez was efficient at the free throw line, converting 7-of-8 attempts, and anchored the Pirates on both ends of the floor

Freshman Neela Castillo finished with 13 points, four steals, and five assists while playing a game-high 35 minutes. Castillo also knocked down all four of her free throws and helped facilitate the offense throughout the afternoon

Kylee Symons added nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Emma Flores chipped in seven points on an efficient 3-for-5 shooting effort.

Adrianna McCoy provided a spark off the bench with seven points and four rebounds, and Lauren Stevens added six points and two blocks in limited minutes.
