GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Football senior captain Jameer Martin was finally recognized as the SAA Defensive Athlete of the Week for an incredible 12-tackle performance on Saturday. Most importantly, Martin's dynamic play making ability gave the Pirates a 44-20 win over Rhodes College.

The senior was suburb on Saturday as he has been all season, leading the league in total tackles at 82. Martin not only racked up 12 tackles, but also caused a fumble which was returned by Seth Jammer for a pivotal game shifting moment. The captain also had 1.5 tackles for loss that amounted to 12 yards.

Not only is Martin leading the league in tackles, but is also seventh nationally with 82. That mark is only four tackles away from the single-season record of 85 with three games still to play. Martin has already broken the Pirates all-time tackle record, currently with 267.
