GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University women's basketball team dropped its first Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest of the season on Saturday evening, falling to Trinity University by a final score of 91–66. The Pirates battled throughout the contest but were unable to overcome a strong third-quarter push by the Tigers.
Southwestern competed early, trailing just 19–14 after the opening quarter before Trinity matched that output again in the second to take a 38–28 advantage at halftime. The Pirates continued to fight coming out of the break, scoring 16 points in the third, but Trinity used a decisive 35-point period to create separation. Southwestern closed the night on a positive note, outscoring the Tigers 22–18 in the fourth quarter, though the deficit proved too large to erase.

As a team, the Pirates shot 21-of-69 (30.4%) from the field and 5-of-19 (26.3%) from three-point range, while turning in an efficient performance at the free-throw line at 19-of-22 (86.4%)

The Pirates recorded 28 points in the paint, 17 second-chance points, 11 fast-break points, and 14 points off turnovers. Southwestern totaled 41 rebounds and received 35 points from its bench.
