GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University women's basketball team battled through four tightly contested quarters before ultimately falling to Centre College, 83–75, in overtime on Friday evening. The loss moves the Pirates to 11–8 overall and 2–6 in Southern Athletic Association play, while the Colonels improved to 17–2 overall and 7–1 in conference action.
Centre jumped out to an early advantage, outscoring Southwestern 21–14 in the opening quarter. The Pirates responded with a strong second period, shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 60 percent from beyond the arc to take a 36–34 lead into halftime after a 22-point quarter. Southwestern continued its momentum after the break, posting its most efficient offensive stretch in the third quarter by shooting 58.3 percent from the floor and converting 10-of-11 from the free throw line to outscore Centre 25–20 and carry a 61–54 lead into the final period.
The Colonels rallied in the fourth quarter, holding Southwestern to 11 points while scoring 18 of their own to force overtime tied at 72–72. Centre took control in the extra period, outscoring the Pirates 11–3 to secure the win.

Southwestern was led by freshman guard Neela Castillo, who scored a team-high 21 points while knocking down four three-pointers and adding three assists.

Adrianna McCoy provided a strong spark off the bench with 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting and contributed three rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal.

Trinity Benitez reached double figures with 11 points, converting 7-of-8 from the free throw line, while Kylee Symons added nine points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting night.
