GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University women's basketball team dropped a Southern Athletic Association road contest to Millsaps College, 65–43, on Friday night at Hangar Dome.
Millsaps took control early, opening the game with a 15–4 first quarter as Southwestern shot 2-of-15 from the field and went scoreless from three-point range in the opening 10 minutes. The Pirates found more offensive rhythm in the second quarter, shooting 6-of-17 from the floor and 1-of-3 from beyond the arc to score 13 points, but Millsaps continued to build its lead and entered halftime ahead 34–17.
Southwestern continued to battle in the second half, scoring 11 points in the third quarter while shooting 4-of-15 from the field. The Pirates earned trips to the free-throw line in the period, converting 3-of-7 attempts. Southwestern closed the game with its strongest offensive stretch in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 points while shooting 6-of-18 from the floor and 2-of-10 from three-point range, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. With the loss, the Pirates move to 1-3 in SAA conference play.
