GEORGETOWN, TEXAS -  Southwestern Volleyball kicked off the SU Invitational with a home opener against Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs. The Pirates made a statement tonight sweeping the Bulldogs for the match. This was an emotional night for the Pirates for a lot of reasons, but being connected as a team was evident from warm-ups until the very last point. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Junior middleblocker Kendall Jurgens had another great outing as she led both teams in kills with twelve for the match, hitting an even .500

• Setters Annika Flora and Taylor Johnson made some fantastic decisions to get their hitters one on one numerous times, together they combined for a total of forty-one assists

• Izzy Rodriguez and Chloe Blanchard each posted double-digit digs, sixteen and twelve respectively

GAME NOTES

• Freshmen Tatum Ahrens and C. Blanchard handled their jobs offensively with Ahrens collecting ten kills and Blanchard tallying eight

• Southwestern kept Bulldogs to a .101 hitting percentage for the match, only allowing Texas Lutheran to collect twenty-eight kills as a team

• The Pirates will face University of Puget Sound tomorrow, Friday September 5th at 6:00 PM in the Robertson Center for day two of the SU Invitational.
