IRVING, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Soccer dominated play against University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon with 19 shots opposed to the Crusaders two, winning 3-0. The Pirates have found their grove scoring goals in the past three matches with nine total.
Junior
Jackie Powell continues to terrorize defenses with another goal, marking six in the past three matches. Powell sets the tone for the Pirates being able to create opportunities from anywhere on the pitch.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Southwestern beats Dallas for the 23rd time in program history at 23-7-6 in the Pirates favor.
- Freshman Maddie Holland gave the Pirates high energy to start the match with an early shot on goal.
- Powell broke the scoreless tie in the 27th minute for her sixth of the season, surpassing her previous season high this week of four goals in 2024.
- Junior Ainsley VanTreeck made an immediate impact off the bench with her speed. The junior scored her first career goal as a Pirate on the assist from senior Lauren Powell.
- The Pirates continued to control the pace in the second half. Sophomore Kristine Garcia finished another first career goal for the Pirates in the 62nd minute. Garcia has knocked on the door all season, seeing her efforts come to fruition on Sunday.
- Freshman EJ Searfoss was not particularly busy in the net due to another stout performance by the back line. The effort notched four clean sheets on the season for the Pirates.
