WSOC Draws Against A Strong Berry College Squad In SAA Debut

MOUNT BERRY, GA - Southwestern University Women's Soccer held Berry College to a scoreless draw in the Pirates debut in the SAA down in Mount Berry, Georgia on Friday night. Southwestern starts the conference slate on solid footing with their fifth clean sheet of the year. 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Opening weekend featured the first ever meeting between the two squads. The Pirates entered play 4-0-2, while the Vikings were 5-2-1. 
  • Southwestern made the flight to Georgia for a weekend against the Vikings on Friday and Oglethorpe University on Sunday. 
  • Freshman EJ Searfoss was busy early, snatching two saves in the first five minutes. 
  • Senior Devin Cybulski and junior Mia Morales mounted two opportunities in the first half that were denied by the Vikings keeper. 
  • The Pirates totaled five shots in the second half with one on net by freshman Addyson Luna
  • Sophomore Matti Penders and senior captain Lauren Powell refused to let the Vikings break through playing all 90 minutes. 
  • Searfoss continues to total high volume matches with nine on the night. The freshman has compiled five shutouts in seven starts, averaging seven saves per contest.
