WSOC Notches Three Second Half Goals in 3-1 Victory At Home

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University fell behind early to a strong Our Lady of the Lady University squad before responding with three second half goals to beat the Saints on Friday night, 3-1.

Junior Jackie Powell is on a run that all players dream of with the first two goals tonight, marking her fifth goal in two matches.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Saints were impressive in the first 45 minutes, controlling the pace with a 1-0 lead.
  • The Pirates regrouped in the locker room and started the second half with immediate opportunities and change in pace.
  • Ten minutes into the second half, junior Mia Morales played a through ball to freshman Maddie Holland. The freshman crossed it to Powell who turned and fired it into the net.
  • In the 67th, minute Powell decided she wasn't done. The junior stole the ball from the wing defender dribbled to down the flank and fired a highlight reel curler into the top corner.
  • While the offensive started to find their grove, Southwestern's defense stayed firm as senior Lauren Powell and sophomore Matti Penders played all 90 minutes on the defensive line.
