MSOC Dominates First Road Test, Finishes Season-High 4 Goals

LONGVIEW, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Soccer traveled to LeTourneau University, controlling possession in route to winning their first road test of the season, 4-1. The victory marked the most goals the Pirates have scored all season and improves their overall record to 6-0-1. 

Southwestern has dominated the non-conference slate in the past three years, last surrendering a loss all the way back in 2022. 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Pirates made the four hour drive to Longview for the first time. 
  • Southwestern ignited the scoring with two goals in the first ten minutes. Senior Greyson Pinto converted his second goal of the season on the assist from sophomore Ross Anderson. Pinto now holds two goals and four assists in seven matches. 
  • The speedy sophomore winger Quinn MacLeod scored two minutes later as he finished with a huge three-point day. 
  • Senior goalkeeper Scott Johnson allowed his first goal since the third match of the season right before halftime. 
  • Sophomore Daniel Sartorio has stepped into the starting lineup, turning in strong midfield play. Sartorio scored the third goal four minutes into the second half on a class assist from MacLeod. 
  • The final nail in the coffin was a penalty kick awarded to the Pirates. Sophomore Danny Wasserman stepped up and buried it for his team-leading third goal of the season. 
UP NEXT
Southwestern travels home tonight and prepares for Austin College on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. back at Varsity Field.
