GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Football announced the unveiling of the 2025 schedule, competing in the Southern Athletic Association for their third straight season. Moreover, all other Pirate sports are following the program moving to the SAA for the 2025-26 academic year. The regular season features five home games at Birklebach Stadium and five road games in four different states.
The Pirates first five games are in Texas, kicking off with a road non-conference test at McMurray University (September 6) in Abilene. Southwestern scored a late touchdown to secure the victory against McMurray in 2024, 24-20. The Pirates host their home opener against University of Puget-Sound (September 13), who travel from Tacoma, Washington. Southwestern took care of business in the meeting last season with 286 rushing yards, winning 47-19. SU looks for revenge at home against Texas Lutheran University (September 20) in the final non-conference matchup. The Pirates fell one touchdown short in Seguin, Texas last season.
Southwestern is eager to make conference improvements this season starting with another road test at Trinity University (October 4) in San Antonio, Texas. Next, the Pirates battle Sewanee: The University of the South (October 11) at home. Then, Southwestern travels to Danville, Kentucky to take on Centre College (October 18), before returning home to battle Maryville College (October 25) on Homecoming Weekend.
The Pirates hit the road for consecutive weekends in November, battling Millsaps College (November 1) in Jackson, Mississippi. Then, SU travel to Memphis, Tennessee to take on Rhodes College (November 8). Finally, Southwestern concludes the regular season at home against Berry College (November 15), celebrating senior night.
Bill Kriesel heads into his second season as Head Coach, but first full season after being named Interim Head Coach before the season and being promoted to the role in November. Kriesel lead the Pirates in 2024 to a 4-6 record, going 2-5 in SAA play.
