GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - D3football.com released it 2024 All-Region teams this week, the teams, selected in balloting by Region 3 sports information directors and
D3football.com staff, were chosen from 195 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Of those 78 players, Southwestern Football placed two members of the defense on the list.
Caleb Harmon, a freshman linebacker from Hockley, Texas, was named Third Team All-Region 3 in his first season with the Pirates. Harmon secured seventy-five total tackles which was good for second overall in the SAA. Harmon put up thirteen tackles for loss, four of which were sacks at a total of fifty-five yards, broke up four passes, and forced one fumble in his first season. Harmon joins his teammate
DJ James, as well as Nik Kelly and Justin Broussard as the four defensive All-Region awards winners in the Pirates history.
DJ James, a senior corner back from Houston, Texas, who was a First Team All-SAA performer, earned himself a spot on the First Team All-Region 3 list. James collected forty tackles, caught two interceptions and broke up fifteen passes from opposing teams, leading the conference in that category. James made history this season, being the programs only player to earn D3football.com First Team All-Region honors. He joins Nik Kelly as the two only corner backs to be named All-Region for the Pirates program.
