GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Softball team played a three game conference series over the weekend against Trinity University. The Pirates dropped game one to the Tigers 13-5, they won game two 5-4, and fell in game three 9-4. Following the loss over the weekend, the Pirates moved to 11-7 in conference play!

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• Tauryn Alexander knocked the cover off the ball sending it straight over the center field fence in the third inning which also scored Meghan McCarthy and tied the game

• Freshman Emery Bell & T. Alexander each led the Pirates with two RBIs

•  Pirate batters drew a total of seven walks from Tigers pitchers

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• Daniella Clark led the Pirates in RBIs adding three more to her statline for the season

• Tauryn Alexander had a game leading the Pirates in hits with three out of her four plate appearances, hitting two singles and a double in the contest

• Sophia Ytuarte pitched a full seven innings allowing twelve hits, walking two batters, and striking out one 

GAME 3 HIGHLIGHTS

• Six different Pirates added a hit to their stats, two of those six Pirates also added an RBI those being Meghan McCarthy and Kaydence Garza

• Senior Erica Otto picked up another stolen base on the season in the third inning

UP NEXT

• Southwestern Softball will travel to Seguin, Texas to take on the nationally ranked Texas Lutheran Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday April 4th-5th.
