Women's Lacrosse Struggles On The Road

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Wisconsin to play two conference games against UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire. The Pirates fought hard but fell short in both games, with the scores being 12-16 and 8-30 respectively. From there Southwestern traveled to St.Paul to play the Hamline University Pipers. It was a close game from start to finish but the Pirates would unfortunately fall short by one goal, leading to a final score of 15-16. These losses move the pirates to 0-6 in conference play and 1-13 overall. 
 

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Cecilia Cantu led the Pirate offense, scoring four goals and tallying one assist. 
  • Sydney Martin put up a hat trick, scoring three goals and scooping up two ground balls
  • The goalkeepers for both teams recorded nine saves in the contest 

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Cecilia Cantu scored a impressive six goals and also picked up three ground balls 
  • Goalkeeper Hannah Colvin made nine saves, recording a 60% save percentage 
  • The Pirates had a 100% clear percentage for the game

GAME 3 HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Grace Van Dinter and Sydney Martin scored three goals each
  • Cecilia Cantu scored a career and season high of eight goals through the contest
  • The Pirates took advantage of the free positions shots by cashing in on four of nine shots

Up Next 

  • The Pirates will travel back to Wisconsin to play three more conference games from April 25th-27th.
