Pirates Defeat William Peace To Pick Up Another Win

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Men's Lacrosse team traveled to North Carolina to play the second non-conference game on their east coast trip against the William Peace University Pacers. The Pirates handled the game from start to finish scoring seventeen goals in the first half. The Pirates didn't hold back as they scored eight more goals in the second half. Pacers were able to score five goals of their own but the Pirates ended the game with a final score of 25-5, moving the Pirates to a 3-0 overall record.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS 

  • The Pirate offense put up an impressive thirty seven points in the contest (Twenty five from goals and twelve from assists) 
  • Junior midfielder Matthew Swandal scored three goals and tallied two assists 
  • Freshman attack Keaten Cox had a breakout game scoring three goals and tallying one assist 

GAME NOTES 

  • The Pirates caused the Pacers to turnover the ball twenty-three times, while the Pirates had nine turnovers
  • Trey Pena won 78% of the face-offs helping the Pirates control the face-off margin 20-12 and the ground ball margin 30-20
  • Southwestern was penalized a total of thirteen times in the contest where they only gave up two man down goals

  • The Southwestern Pirates will be back on Varsity Field on March 8th as they face the Clark University Cougars at 11:00 AM.
