Men's Lacrosse Falls Short Against Clark

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Men's Lacrosse faced off against the Clark University Cougars Saturday on Varsity Field in Georgetown Texas. The Pirates had trouble gaining traction early in the game, coupled with a strong first half performance by the Cougars who led with a score of 6-0 going into halftime. However the game was far from over, the Pirates would go on to score seven goals in the third quarter. Southwestern continued the comeback in the fourth quarter scoring four more goals, and the game ultimately came down to the final seconds with Southwestern falling short by one goal to a final score of 12-11.

HIGHLIGHTSĀ 

  • Junior midfielder Matthew Houtz recorded a hat trick in the second half to start the comeback run for the Pirates

  • Midfielder Zach Faubion tallied one assist and caused 3 turnovers

  • Chris Steffek caused three turnovers against Clark while scooping up three ground ballsĀ 

NOTESĀ 

  • The Southwestern offense scored 42% of their shots on goalĀ 

  • Goalies for both teams recorded thirteen saves

  • Trey Pena won thirteen face-offs in the contest recording an impressive 56.5% win percentage
