Women's Lacrosse Plays Five Games In Six Days

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern women's lacrosse team had a busy week playing five games in six days, all on Varsity Field in Georgetown Texas. Starting on March 10th the Pirates took on Emerson College (8-19 final) followed by Meredith College on the 11th (0-23) and Calvin University on Wednesday the 12th (6-13) before taking a break on Thursday. The Pirates then played Carthage College (4-18) and Carroll University (1-14) on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately none of the games went in the favor of the Pirates. And Southwestern now looks to rest and prepare for conference play. 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Junior Cecilia Cantu had an all-star performance scoring three goals and picking up two assists, she also added six ground balls and five caused turnovers to her stat sheet .
  • Grace Van Dinter put three shots on goal, scoring two, and she also tallied three draw controls. 
  •  Elaina Seeley scored one goal and tallied six ground balls in the contest.  

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hope Culberson picked up a team high two ground balls and caused one turnover. 
  • The Southwestern goalkeepers combined seven saves in the contest. 
  • Meredith won the ground ball battle, picking up sixteen to the Pirates five. 

GAME THREE HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Junior Cecilia Cantu led the offense scoring five goals and talling one assist. 
  • London Flowers scooped three ground balls and caused one turnover. 
  • Southwestern recorded twelve draw controls to Calvin's ten.

GAME FOUR HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hope Culberson recorded a game high in turnovers caused, forcing three turnovers and picking up one ground ball.  
  • Cecilia Cantu scored two goals and tallied five draw controls. 
  • Southwestern goalies Emma Bethke and Hannah Colvin both recorded five saves in the contest. 

GAME FIVE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Susette Mireles scored the only goal of the game for Southwestern, She also added one ground ball and one caused turnover to her round out her stat sheet. 
  • Hope Culberson caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls ? Southwestern picked up seven more ground balls than Carroll, beating them thirteen to six in ground balls.

  • The Southwestern Women's Lacrosse team plays their conference opener at home against Colorado College on Friday, April 4th at 5:00 PM.
