GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Basketball team faced off against the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Friday night in their second to last home game at the Robertson Center for the 2024-25 season. The Pirates more than doubled up on the Mountaineers in the first, taking a 19-9 lead by the end of the quarter. The Mountaineers manufactured eighteen points in the second to the Pirates twenty, giving Southwestern a 39-27 lead headed into half. Despite being outscored in the next two quarters, Southwestern road out their first half lead to a 72-66 victory over Schreiner.
HIGHLIGHTS
- In her sixth double-double game of the season, Trinity Benitez picked up fourteen points with ten rebounds while also putting in eight out of nine free throws for the game.
- Also securing a double-double in the game, Ellie Ward scored thirteen, matching Benitez with ten rebounds as well as going 7/8 at the free throw line.
- The leading point scorer of the game, Adrianna McCoy, tallied twenty one points with 11 of those coming from the free throw line (11/13).
NOTES
- As a team the Pirates shot 88% from the free throw line, coming from the top four point scorers for the Pirates.
- Lauren Stevens was the fourth Pirate in double digit points, tacking on ten for the night.
- Southwestern turned the ball over twenty-three times as opposed to just twelve from the Mountaineers. Of those turnovers, Schreiner scored fifteen.
