GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Softball team kicked off their season with a tough double-header test against the defending national champions and number one ranked in the pre-season poll, East Texas Baptist Tigers. In the first game of the DH, the Pirates held the Tigers to just three runs in four innings of play. However, the Tigers added seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game 10-1. The second game went the full seven. With the Pirates down 4-1 headed into the fifth, the Tigers extended the lead by three more runs to make it 7-1, riding out that lead until the final inning.

- The Pirates walked ten batters throughout the two games and were walked half as many times.
- In the game one of the double header, Southwestern struck out twice in their fifteen at bats.
- Between the two games, Pirate pitchers struck out four batters against the #1 Tigers.
