Men's Basketball Unable to Top Mountaineers Despite Second Half Effort

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Basketball went toe-to-toe against the number two ranked team in the SCAC Gold Division, the Schreiner University Mountaineers, at the Robertson Center on Friday Night. The Pirates went down nine points against the Mountaineers by the end of the second half, needing to make up a 40-31 deficit. Despite the Pirates outscoring Schreiner in the second half, they were unable to make a nine point swing, losing out to the Mountaineers 71-66.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Shobby Enakpene eclipsed his career high point total tonight. The leading point scorer for the game put up nineteen points from seven field goals and three free throws.
  • Tallying up seventeen points against Schreiner, Jared Robbins was the second leading scorer for the Pirates while also securing six of the Pirates rebounds.
  • Luke Mills was second in the game in total rebounds with eight and was the Pirates leading rebounder while also notching four points. 
NOTES
  • Neither team hit above 28% from beyond the three point line. Southwestern hit 8/30 three point attempts against the Mountaineers 4/24.
  • The teams were near even when it came to the free throw line, the Pirates led the game at 74% while Schreiner neared 72%.
  • Schreiner was able to gather 44 points in the paint, with the Pirates totaling at 28 points in the lane for the game.
