Softball Loses Non-Conference Contest to Crusaders

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Softball team played against the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders at Taylor-Sanders Field on Wednesday, February 26th for a single mid-week match up. The Pirates scored first, adding a single run in both the fourth and fifth inning to go up 2-0. Crusaders had a four run sixth inning to take the lead and kept the Pirates scoreless for the rest of the game. Crusaders took the win in Georgetown with a final score of 2-6. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior Meghan McCarthy hit a double in the fourth inning to score Emery Bell to take the lead, McCarthy collected the lone RBI of the game with her double

  • Erica Otto bunted in the fifth inning to move the runners into scoring position, but due to an overthrow at first and good base running, freshman Logan Kieselhorst scored putting the Pirates up 2-0

  • Pirates Kaydence Garza and Macey Gilman drew walks by Crusaders pitcher 
GAME NOTES

  • Crusaders out battled the Pirates at the plate recording eight hits compared to the Pirates six

  • Shortstop Riley Glenn-Millhouse assisted six outs in the contest, only picking up one error

UP NEXT

  • The Pirates travel to Sherman, Texas for the next conference three game series as they take on Austin College starting on Friday, February 28th.
