GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Baseball team was thrown for a curve ball this weekend as they were to face University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Pirates and Crusaders played in Georgetown, Texas where the Pirates were the visiting team. A double-header between the teams took place on Saturday followed by a single game on Sunday. The Pirates won the series against Crusaders going 2-3 on the weekend. Finals from Georgetown - game one 6-5 (Dallas), game two 4-1 (Southwestern in ten innings), game three 6-4 (Southwestern).

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS 

• Christian Melillo recorded two hits out of his four at bats, one of those being a stand up double to right field in the top of the eighth inning

• Shortstop Ben Feuer earned two RBIs with a single to right field

• The Pirates picked up a total of five errors for game one

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS 

• Top of the seventh inning, James Vaquero scored on a passed ball to tie up the game 1-1

• Pirates forced the game to go into extra innings - Tanner Teffs hit a sac fly to left field bring in Tres Organ to take the lead 2-1

• Jordan Coronado and James Vaquero each picked up another RBI in the top of the tenth inning

GAME 3 HIGHLIGHTS  

• Dallas scored three runs early in the game, forcing the Pirates to make a move and they did just that in the top of the third inning

• Four different Pirates picked up RBIs in the third inning those being - J. Vaquero(1), C. Melillo (2), C. Adams (2), and O. Stevenson (1)

• Junior pitcher Garrett Guinn collected his first win of the season

NOTES

• Chase McGarr picked up his first win of the season from the mound while Noah David had his first save 

• Pirates racked up a total of twenty walks from the Crusaders throughout the series

• Southwestern Baseball will be at home for their home opener and senior weekend at Rockwell Field this weekend as they take on the University of St. Thomas Celts.
