GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University women's basketball picked up a statement home victory Tuesday night, defeating Concordia University 72–61 inside the Robertson Center. The win marked the Pirates' first triumph over the Tornados since the 2023 season and improved Southwestern to 7–2 on the year.
The Pirates set the tone early, jumping out to a 17–8 advantage after the opening quarter and never relinquishing control. Southwestern maintained the pressure in the second period, outscoring Concordia 17–13 to take a 34–21 lead into halftime. The Tornados attempted to rally coming out of the break, but Southwestern matched Concordia point for point in the third quarter, holding a 51–36 advantage entering the final 10 minutes. Concordia made its final push in the fourth, but the Pirates answered with timely baskets and free throws to secure the 72–61 win.

Freshman Neela Castillo led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field and knocking down five three-pointers. Castillo added eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks in a complete performance.

Junior Trinity Benitez followed with 18 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting night while pulling down nine rebounds and recording three steals and three blocks.

Adrianna McCoy finished with nine points and four assists, while Emma Flores contributed eight points and four rebounds.
