SAN ANTIONIO, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Soccer took the early advantage, but could not finish the job against Trinity University on Saturday night, 2-1. The Pirates had the opportunity to seal the SAA Conference Regular Season Championship with a tie or win.
However, the Pirates came inches away from tying the match in the final ten minutes, as the Tigers won the title. Southwestern faltered in loss for the first time all season, finishing the regular season 14-1-3 and 6-1 in conference. Southwestern's season is far from over as they host the SAA Tournament next week for a chance to get revenge.
The winner of the tournament earns an automatic qualifier into the NCAA tournament, as the Pirates could also earn an at-large bid with their stellar season. However, the Pirates have a goal to defend home field and take home the title next weekend, which would involve winning their semi-final matchup on Friday and the championship on Sunday.
