WSOC Falters In 2-0 Loss at Oglethorpe

BROOKHAVEN, GEORGIA - Southwestern Women's Soccer dropped their first SAA loss on Sunday afternoon at Oglethorpe University, 2-0. The Pirates fall to 4-3-3 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play. 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Southwestern matched up with a strong Oglethorpe squad for the 12th time in program history. 
  • The Petrels came into the match at 6-2 overall. 
  • Oglethorpe jumped out of the gate with the first goal in the seventh minute.
  • Senior Cecilia Banderob and freshman Addyson Luna mounted the Pirates two shots on goal in the first half. 
  • In the second half, senior Tristyn Kattawar fired an early opportunity into the top corner which was saved.
  • The Pirates continued to press with six additional shots, two close efforts from junior Jackie Powell
  • However, Oglethorpe found their insurance goal in the 82nd minute, putting the game away. 
  • Southwestern mounted the opportunies with 12 shots, opposed to the Petrels 13. 
  • Freshman goalkeeper EJ Searfoss finished with five saves on the day and 14 on the weekend. 
UP NEXT
Southwestern returns home for the next three matches. The squad takes on University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Sewanee comes into town on Saturday for another SAA matchup at 11 a.m.
