WSOC Falls Short Against SAA Foe Sewanee, 2-1

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Soccer drops their SAA home opener against Sewanee falling to 4-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play. The Pirates tied the match before halftime but lost the lead in the second to a talented Sewanee squad. 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sewanee entered the day on the top of the SAA standings. 
  • The Pirates and Tigers faced off for the 13th time in program history. 
  • Senior Tristyn Kattawar hit the woodwork in the seventh minute nearly finding the back of the net. 
  • Junior Erin York got the start today tallying two crucial saves in the first ten minutes. 
  • The chances continued for both squads as the Tigers hit the post in the 17th minute. 
  • Sewanee broke through in the 20th minute sneaking a goal past York. 
  • Junior Mia Morales equalized the match on the assist from sophomore Matti Penders. The goal marked the first of the season for Morales. 
  • The Pirates found momentum before the Tigers gained the one goal lead in the 60th minute past newly entered goalie freshman EJ Searfoss
  • Searfoss kept the Pirates in the match with four addional saves after the goal. 
  • However, Southwestern failed the find the equalizer.
