GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Athletics and its student-athletes put together a fall to remember, both in competition and in the classroom. While it's student-athletes were achieving individual awards, earning conference tournament appearances and gaining national rankings, they also kept their head in their studies, working hard to maintain that "student" come first in "student-athlete". Across Southwestern's twenty intercollegiate sports, the average GPA for its in the fall stood at a 3.436, representing themselves very well among the general student body. Individually, eighty Pirates earned 4.0 GPA's, with forty-seven of those on the women's side and thirty-three on the men, with the highest average GPA for women's sports (tennis) coming in at 3.854 and the highest men's sport (golf) at 3.629.

As a Division III institution, Southwestern Athletics works to create an environment in which a student-athlete's activities are conducted with the primary emphasis on the student-athlete's academic experience. The athletic department would like to commend its athletes for their continued efforts on the field, courts, and in the classroom
