Women's Basketball Gains Firat Conference Win Over Centenary

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Basketball team took their first conference win over the Centenary College Ladies on Friday night in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Pirates took the lead from the Ladies late in the first quarter and never relinquished it, going on to win 63-53. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Ellie Ward led the Pirates in scoring with nineteen on the night, going for a career high fourteen rebounds in the Pirates win.
  • Taylor Boddie also had a career night, scoring thirteen points, the highest in her two years, while also collecting three rebounds. 
  • Rounding out career performances was Lauren Stevens, who grabbed eleven rebounds (career high) and scored two points. 
NOTES
  • Fifty-nine of the Pirates sixty-three points came from the starting five, only needing four from the bench. 
  • The Pirates out rebounded the Ladies 45-40 with twenty five of those coming from Ward and Stevens. 
  • Southwestern went 81% from the free throw line, knocking down 17/21 free throws.
