Pirates Take a 3-1 Win Over Pacific Lutheran

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Volleyball took the floor at the Robertson Center on Friday Night sporting a 4-0 record heading into their match up against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes. The Pirates exchanged sets one and two with the Lutes before gaining momentum in the third set. Southwestern would go on to win sets three and four 24-14, 25-18 and advance to 5-0 for the year against the Lutes.

"It is always great to see teammates play at a high level and Lily McWhorter did that this evening versus a strong defensive team. As a team we played elite defense, proven by holding a good team to .052 hitting percentage. Both of our setters put people into good swing patterns and we scored efficiently off of them as well," recaps Head Coach Don Flora.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lily McWhorter dominated in the middle of the court with fourteen kills, one block solo and five block assists.
  • Carly Berkman and Emily Marks both went for double digit kills with eleven and ten respectively.
  • Annika Flora assisted in blocks at the net five time while recording twenty three assists.
  • Claire Romo reached the twenty assist mark on the night and adding fourteen digs to her tally.
NOTES
  • Southwestern scored 50 kills to the Lutes 34 and totaled nine blocks.
  • Geneva Nedrow led all parties in digs with sixteen in the game.
  • The Pirate defense limited the Lutes to just a .052 hitting percentage where they hit negative in the third set.
