GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Volleyball team has moved up in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Pirates, previously ranked #23, rose to #19 on Tuesday. The Pirates would have little time to enjoy being in the Top 20 as they faced the Schreiner University Mountaineers the same day.Â
Southwestern took care of business in the Robertson Center, downing the Mountaineers in a 3-0 sweep. After taking a 25-21, 25-21 two-set lead. The Mountaineers forced the Pirates into extra points in the third set, but a string of mistakes allowed the Pirates to come away with a 26-24 victory.

Kate Spinelli steadied the Pirate's offense throughout the night collecting a team-high twelve kills.Â

Lauren McIntyre and Annika Flora dug up eleven balls a piece for Southwestern. Flora also set eighteen assists for Pirate hitters.

Claire Romo went for twenty-one assists, the setter helped the Pirates to a .281 hitting percentage for the match.Â

Geneva Nedrow served up three aces against the Mountaineers, also putting up five assists.Â
