Southwestern Volleyball Knocks off #15 Trinity University

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Volleyball played host to Trinity University in their conference season opener on Saturday. The Pirates held a definite home-court advantage all throughout the match thanks to the Pirate faithful showing out for "Grub and Gameday", an event that brought Southwestern Athletic teams, Fraternities, Sororities, and residence life hall students into the Robertson Center for a packed arena.

Volleyball grabbed hold of the momentum off the bat to take a 2-0 set lead heading into the third period. A ten minute intermission between the 2nd and 3rd sets allowed groups on campus the opportunity to compete in games on the court. Following the break, the Tigers came out and took the third set, 25-18. Southwestern rallied in the final set of the match, knocking off the Tigers 25-20 for a 3-1 win and their second Top-25-ranked win of the season.

"Our team felt all of the love and support from the students, fans, campus community, and the SU Athletic Department. We can't thank them enough for a great atmosphere throughout Grub and Gameday. The energy in the Robertson Center was unmatched and there is no doubt it helped us get a great win today," remarks Head Coach Don Flora.
