GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's basketball team hosted the Paul Peak Classic this weekend, honoring the longtime head coach of the Pirates throughout two games this weekend. In the first match up on Friday, the Pirates fell by just one point to the East Texas Baptist Tigers, 53-54, narrowly missing out on their first win of the season. In the second contest on Saturday, Southwestern trailed by one point going into halftime against the UT-Dallas Comets. However a thirty-seven point half from the Comets would lead to a 65-56 victory over the Pirates. The Pirates honored Coach Peak at halftime during the second game of the weekend, supported by a large showing of Men's Basketball Alumni.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Pirates were led offensively by sophomore forward Luke Mills, who had eight points, and eight rebounds along with three steals.
- Four different Pirates scored seven points on Friday night, including Keshaun Bell, Gio Gutierrez, Sebastian Loder and Aiden Raccuglia.
- Southwestern went 21-51 from the field and were 7-12 from the free throw line against the Tigers.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Gio Gutierrez put up a game-high sixteen points against UT-Dallas while also assisting on five scores and collecting three steals.
- Sophomore forward Aiden Raccuglia went 4-8 from beyond the arc scoring all twelve of his points form the three point line.
- Senior forward Brock Luechtefeld tied the game-high in rebounds with eight, adding eight points to his stat line.

- Southwestern Men's Basketball takes a thanksgiving trip to California next week to compete against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags on Friday, November 29th and the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Saturday, November 30th.
