Volleyball Still 8-3 in Conference Play Following Loss to TLU

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Volleyball traveled to Seguin, Texas for their second and final match up against Texas Lutheran on Friday Night. The last time the Bulldogs and the Pirates met, the match went to five sets, coming out in favor of the Pirates. This time, Texas Lutheran finished the Pirates three sets to zero with home court advantage. Both teams are now tied for the second spot in the SCAC Gold Division with and 8-3 record behind Trinity University. 

"Tonight was about finding a way to keep rhythm and trying to keep pressure on your opponent., at times we saw good things and at times TLU found their own rhythm. We did some nice things defensively, holding TLU to .100 offensively, but we need to answer the bell on our own end," states Head Coach Don Flora. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Geneva Nedrow managed nineteen digs and three assists against the Bulldogs, she also served one ace. 
  • Christina Kuras led the Pirates in kills with seven and added six digs to her stat line. 
NOTES
  • Southwestern held TLU to just a  .100% hitting percentage for the match, however the Pirates hit .000 for the three sets, including two negative sets. 
  • TLU blocked twelve Pirate attack attempts and limited Southwestern to just twenty four kills. 
  • The Pirates only lost by a combined ten points through matches one, two and three.
