Women's Swim and Dive Beats Austin College 124-63

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Swim and Dive team hosted their second dual meet of the season against the Austin College 'Roos Saturday in Walzel Natatorium. On the Women's side, the Pirates took their first dual meet victory of the season by a margin of 124-63 over the 'Roos. Southwestern posted first place finishes in eight events where both squads participated. 

HIGHLIGHTS - First Place Finishes
  • Relays - Southwestern took first place in both the 200 yard medley relay and the 200 free relay. For the medley, it was Niva Maskey, Elaine Bentley, Jackie Vargas and Delaney Alt coming in with a time of 1:59.49. In the freestyle, Mallory DeArmond, Elizabeth Krajca, Alt and Kylie Allemeier clocked a 1:48.59.
  • Distance Freestyle - Alexis Bolte concluded the 1000 yard free in 11:41.34 and Delaney Alt finished the 500 free in 5:41.94 earning wins for Southwestern.
  • 200 Yard Freestyle - Mallory DeArmond cleared second place by 3.34 seconds with a time of 2:03.55.
  • Sprint Freestyle - Jackie Vargas put up a time of 27 seconds dead in the 50 to take first, just .99 seconds over Austin College. In the 100, Ellie Samples clipped DeArmond by just .87 seconds to take the win over seven other swimmers.
  • Butterfly - In the 100 yard fly, Vargas again came out on top with a time of 1:02.99, just under six seconds ahead of Austin. 
  • Backstroke - Samples beat Maskey by just over a second in the 100 yard backstroke to claim first. Samples time was just over a minute at 1:00.90.

  • In the last meet of 2024 for the Pirates, Southwestern will head to San Antonio, Texas to participate in Trinity University's Tiger Invite at Alamo Heights Natatorium from November 22nd through November 24th.
